George,

Your position against the EU is correct. Nevertheless, we have here in
Austria the problem that we are here and now at the starting point of a new
movement. Due to the development of the Austrian Social Democratic Party - a
classical bourgeois workers party - to a permanent governmental pillar of
the capitalist system and its preponderant weight in the Trade Unions, we
find a rather underdevelopped class-conscieousness among Austrian workers.

And I think, as long as we cannot propose a credible working-class
alternative to the existing government and the existing capitalist system,
we will not be capable of smashing the "democratic" illusions into the
"democratic bourgeoisie of the EU".

Therefore, the current mobilisations are of greatest importance, especially,
because today (and not only we, the "radicals" recognized that fact, but
even the state-run broadcasting company ORF) for the first time in relevant
numbers working-class and immigrant youth joined the protests. As I wrote
duing the day: we see now in the movement a clear separation between the
"democratic" petty-bourgeois elemenets and the leftists (and here I clearly
do ***not only*** speak of the traiditonal far-left organiazations, but of
those quickly radicalizing youth!).

It´s now a process of learning - and it seems, that some people are learning
rather quickly.

All changes, changes utterly - even if there is not yet a terrible beauty
born in Austria.

I keep You informed!

Kurt
