We need some perspective here; it was lost when Bernie made the
comment that dialectical materialism somehow caused problems in
science. It is neccesary for us to link this dialectical thought to
an existing society.

Whether dialectian or not (who among scientists today is not?
Consciously or not, any scientist that is not a dialectical
materialist is poor in thought and result) no matter what system of
thought a Soviet scientist used, their actions and results found
similar directions. A system of thought will only differ in how far
it takes the scientist to achieving their aims and efficiency; it
does not change results and directions, but instead adheres to them.

Yes, but he was a dialectical materialist regardless. As Lenin was a
poor philosopher, Einstein was a poor social-scientist; Einstein had
declared that the German government established after the first World
war would bring and era of peace and prosperity to Germany. He later
even had grand ideas about the wonders the United Nations would
achieve for World Peace (I think he even believed that Isreal would
be a peaceful place). Quite a social visionary. In regards to
physics, he was a genius, and any such genius in physics can only be
accomplished through basic dialectical materailist understanding.
