Most of the time the intelligent approach makes sense, but
when I'm in a bad
mood and I remember what the Boers did to us over the years,
then my
interpretation become irrational and possibly reductionist:
Two groups of white
strangers, fighting over somebody else's property. The Boers
won and got the
prize... a hundred years of misery for the rest of us.
The Boers lost, but they gained some privileges for
themselves by agreeing to become the junior partners of
international finance capital. In other words they made the
same sort of pragmatic decision that Thabo and company have
more recently made ("What? Nationalisation? We never had any
policies like that!!).
