Petroven Houston office closed

Lists:

This is an interesting piece of information that the media
have kept silent.

Venezuela's state-owned oil company, Petroven, a state of
herself within the Venezuelan state, was one of the few
that the USA has never proposed to privatize.

An interesting question, since 2/3rds of Petroven's produce
goes directly to the US, and a good share of American oil
imports comes from Venezuela, would be: "Why?"

The reason why is that Petroven, under the joint venture of
the COPEI-AD "democrats", was in fact managed not from the
mammooth-sized general HQ at Caracas, but from the quite
less conspicuous Petroven branch office at Houston.

This office, with 300 on the payroll where only 3 were
Venezuelans, made every strategic decission. It was
the true brain of the nervous system of Petroven. During
the long time when the barrel of oil was at 22 dollars,
Petroven thus supplied the American market with oil at --8
dollars the barrel!

The Chavez government has recently closed the Houston
branch. This measure is the true expression of Venezuelan
economic sovereignty, and gives full meaning to the
declarations by Chavez "we shall privatize everything,
except for Petroven".

That is, "we know winds are strongly against us, and will
be careful; but the main lever of our economy will be put
under strong Venezuelan hands".

Not bad, considering that the self-appointed "socialists"
of AD and the "social-christians" of COPEI had put the lever
in the hands of the American bourgeoisie.

Nestor.
