There are 200,000 people unaccounted for *from the events of the past
month*! Most are being held in concentration camps contolled by the
milita and the Indonesian military in West Timor. There are still many
in the mountains in East Timor.

Whatever the final death toll, the Indonesian military and their pet
militias' goal was to systematically decapitate (ie kill) the
independence movement leadership and deport and intimidate the
pro-independence population.

That is why the liberation movement appealed to the solidarity movement
outside to pressure their goverments to intervene with a UN peacekeeping
force. The arrival of that force -- albeit very late -- has frustrated
Jakarta's goal.

I don't know about Borba and Gary but we ``are being told'' what was
happening by the liberation movement. Are you saying that the Timorese
liberation movement is lying? That it is in league with Australian
imperialism to mislead the world about what was going on in ET?

Norm.
