The breadline massacre:context and sources
- Subject: The breadline massacre:context and sources

Dear people,
Regarding the breadline massacre in May 27, 1992 in Sarejevo:
There were in fact three major Sarajevo massacres which were staged by
Islamic Fundamentalist forces as provocations; these in addition to numerous
lessor provocations. They staged these provocations because they knew that
the Western press would work with them - the provocations would have
backfired had the press used the most elementary standards of investigations.
But, as the Dan Rather quote below illustrates, hysterical Serb-bashing was
the order of the day. This again illustrates what is "new" about the
demonization of the Serbs: the use of TV as political theater.
And indeed, all three big massacres (breadline, Markale 1 and Markale II)
were political theater and occurred just before major decisions whose
outcomes they guaranteed. For example, the breadline massacre in May, 1992
occured just before the UN was to vote on whether to apply sanctions against
Serbia. Here are some interesting facts about breadline. First a summary of
the steps in the provocation, connecting the massacre and the UN Security
Council vote, and then some sources:
1) At the end of May 1992 it was announced that the U.N. Security Council
would vote on whether to impose sanctions on the remnants of Yugoslavia,
i.e., on the Serbian people and other residents of Yugoslavia.
2) Knowing this, on May 27th, anti-Serbian forces in Sarajevo staged a
massacre. The victims were mainly Serbs who had been lured to the blast site
by a radio announcement, repeated on the Muslim radio station five times the
preceding day, that food would be distributed in the largely Serbian area.
(The radio announcement was guaranteed to get Serbs to the required spot
because the Islamist authorities were withholding international aid from the
Serbian residents - that is, they were hungry)
Immediately after the massacre, footage was broadcast around the world.
Typical was this from Dan Rather:
"Blood was pouring down the main street of Sarajevo today...as shells rained
down on civilians. This atrocity by Serb forces..." etc.
Nobody asked how television cameras came to be on the spot precisely when the
bomb went off.
3) A day before the UN Security Council session, on May 30th, UN Secretary
General Ghali wrote a report about the current situation in Bosnia. The
report clearly put the main blame for carnage in Bosnia on Croatian, not
Serbian forces.
4) The report mysteriously disappeared. There is speculation that it was
taken by an Austrian diplomat.
5) On May 31st, four days after the massacre, the Security Council voted to
impose sanctions on Serbia. These sanctions were and are unsurpassed in
harshness. The irony is that most of the victims of the breadline massacre
were in fact Serbs and that as Ghali's report stated, the Serbian government
troops had already left Bosnia.
6) B. B. Ghali's report, which showed Serbia proper was cooperating with UN
demands, resurfaced ONE HOUR AFTER the vote.
7) Later, a confidential U.N. report talking about the massacre reached many
European reporters and parts of the US government. The report stated that
Muslims staged the event. A few Western newspapers reported the fact. Other
Western media outlets (TV stations in particular) kept replaying the massacre
to blame the Serbs.
8) On September 1, 1992 a US Task Force on Terrorism & Unconventional Warfare
received a government report titled: "Iran's European Springboard?".
>From the document it was clear that (at least a portion of) the U.S.
government knows the truth about breadline, and other massacres staged by the
Islamic Fundamentalists.
The remnants of the sanctions are still in place, wreaking havoc on the lives
of the people of Serbia. For example, my friend Petar Makara's mother lost
her leg because it was impossible to import a small, artificial vein, which
costs a few cents to manufacture but is not made in Serbia.
The most important part of the sanctions is not talked about - that's the
information sanctions. No information was allowed to come from the Serbian
side. In effect - the New World Order tied the mouth of the victim and
proceeded with rape.
Here are some sources, in brief:
1) A deposition was done by the Serbian Council in Belgrade. The Serbian
Council is a non-government, non-profit group of Serbian intellectuals ...
The deposition was collected in accordance with relevant world standards.
Among other things, the Council video taped the following testimony, the text
of which was then signed:
Excerpts from testimony:
... I was also an eyewitness of the Vasa Miskin Street massacre. About forty
minutes beforehand they [Islamist government forces] forbade passage through
this street from the Muslim Slav part of the town, while allowing passage
from other parts of the city. They were preparing the ambulance and the TV
report truck. I saw this from the window of my apartment, noticing that
passage was forbidden from one side of the town. The TV report truck were by
the Sarajevo City market, allegedly reporting on the market. The same moment
explosion occurred on the street, they began the TV report. For that day,
they transported bread and ice cream to that street. I knew some of the
people who were hurt in that alleged artillery attack. I heard only the
explosion, but not the sound of mortar shells in the flight. Stretchers and
ambulances were prepared beforehand, and there were other vehicles parked in
front of my house just before the explosion...

2) Letter of the Representative of the Republic of Serbian Krayina in
Washington, DC
This was written on the day of the incident to UN Secretary General Ghali,
giving him basic information as gathered by the Serbian side.
Excerpt of the quote:
"...Most of the people, standing in line, were brought close to the site by
the soldiers with Muslim insignia. Three of those killed were recognized as
Miroslav Svrakic, Stojan Skoric and Nedeljka Dobrijevic, all Serbs.
All evidence collected so far indicate that this "accident" was a
premeditated murder organized by the Muslim Government of Bosnia and
Herzegovina with intention of slandering Serbian side. It appears that those
massacred were Serbs which had been held as hostages in the city of Sarajevo
by Moslem and Croat forces. "
Signed by Dr. Zoran B. Djordjevic, Authorized Krayina representative.
END of quote.
3) Mr.Ghali's report
Secretary General Ghali assembled a report to be read prior to the announced
conference the next day (report number S/24049, dated May 30, 1992). In the
report he says:
...Council demanded that all units of the Yugoslav's Peoples' Army (JNA) and
elements of Croatian Army now in Bosnia and Herzegovina must withdraw...
...Belgrade authorities on May 4th announced their decision to withdraw from
B&H (Bosnia) by May 18th all JNA personnel who were not CITIZENS of that
Republic... ...Most of these are believed to have withdrawn already into
Serbia and Montenegro... As regards the withdrawal of the elements of the
Croatian Army NOW in Bosnia, information currently available in the New York
suggest that NO such withdrawal has occured. UNPROFOR has received reliable
reports of Croatian Army personnel, in uniform, operating within, and as part
of, military formation in Bosnia...
END of quote.
4) Excerpts from the U.S. government report titled: "Iran's European Spring
board?", dated September 1, 1992. Filed by the US Government Anti-terrorist
Task Force:
"...Tehran and its allies are using the violence in Bosnia as a springboard
for the launching of JIHAD in Europe... At the center of the Iranian system
in Europe is Bosnian President, Alija Izetbegovic, a fundamentalist Muslim
and a member of the Fida'iyan-e Islam organization, who is committed to the
establishment of an Islamic Republic in Bosnia. The Fida'iyan-e group
advocates the struggle for the establishment of Islamic rule wherever Muslims
live, ...
... the Yugoslav Muslims youth were drawn into cooperation with, and
emulation of, Arab terrorists...
... a special group of Bosnian Muslim forces, many of whom had served with
Islamist terrorist organizations, began committing a series of atrocities,
including "some of the worst recent killings," against Muslim civilians in
Sarajevo "as a propaganda ploy to win world sympathy and military
intervention."... Investigation by the UN and other military experts count
among these self-inflicted actions the "bombing of the bread queue" (May 27),
the "shelling" of Douglas Hurd's visit (July 17), the "explosions in the
cemetery" (August 4), and the killing of ABC producer David Kaplan (August
13). In all these cases, Serbian forces were out of range, and the weapons
actually used against the victims were not those claimed by the Bosnian
authorities and the Western media... "
... END of quote.
5) From "Peacekeeper - the road to Sarajevo". by the Commander of the Bosnia
UN troops, (at the time,) Major-General Lewis MacKenzie:
"My interpretation on events will undoubtedly upset some of the players
involved in Sarajevo's continuing plight.
While I can understand their frustration, I could not bring myself to
sanitize the record of what I saw on the ground in order to avoid upsetting
my critics. I have merely tried to document from the inside one person's view
of UN peacekeeping efforts in the turmoil and tragedy of Sarajevo...
[On breadline massacre:]
The streets had been blocked off just before the incident. Once the crowd was
let in and lined up, the media appeared but kept their distance. The attack
took place, and the media were immediately on the scene. The majority of the
people killed are alleged to be "tame Serbs".
End of the quote.
Associated Press:
United Nations: An hour after the Security Council clamped sanctions on
Serbia on Saturday, it received a report - made public Wednesday - saying
Belgrade does not control the main Serbian militia fighting in
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The report by U.N. Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali and his chief
peacekeeper, Marrack Goulding, also said Croatians are involved in the
fighting in Bosnia.
Security Council ambassadors are wondering now whether they were too tough on
Serbia.
On Saturday, the council voted 13-0, with two abstentions, to clamp sanctions
on Serbia and Montenegro, the two republics remaining in Yugoslavia.
A Western diplomat said Wednesday that if council members had seen the report
before the vote, the resolution would have barely squeaked through.
(End quote).
Perhaps most interesting is a letter written to the conservative CHRONICLES
magazine by Borisa Starovic, Dean of the medical school in Sarajevo. I just
read the letter; the pages in Chronicles are videotaped in the superbly
documented movie "Yugoslavia: the Avoidable War." The date of the issue of
Chronicles is unreadable in the video. I have asked a researcher at
emperors-clothes.com to try to find it. Here is an excerpt from the text:
"I found it very odd that there were no laceration or puncture wounds on any
of the victims. Neither were there any head or chest wounds, only trauma to
the lower extremities. The wounds were obviously not caused by artillery
shells. They were the result of pre-planted demolition charges."
The movie includes testimony of high ranking US military men confirming that
the Islamist forces staged these incidents, including breadline.
Perhaps BB Ghali's annoyingly thorough approach is the reason Albright
campaigned so violently to get him sacked. The current Sec'y General is
certainly a good deal less fussy about facts and UN rules.
