Re: Jose Ramos Horta & NATO

Yesterday night I attended an exhibition of Federico
Urioste's film "Hundan al Belgrano" (Sink the Belgrano!), a
documentary financed by British ITN and which expresses the
Argentinian patriotic and revolutionary point of view on
the Falklands issue. I had not watched the film for years,
and, as each time I do, I was striken by the simple clarity
of events as depicted and analyzed by, among others,
Virginia Gamba (an Argentinian working on International
Politics in a British University), Tam Dalyell, and even the
unforgettables Alexander Haigh, as well as Meg Bloodihands.

I warmly encourage all the list members who can accede to
the version in English to watch it.

What does it have to do with Yoshie's posting? Not the
description of what the _kelpers_ actually are (that is,
British colonists and not a menaced "nationality"), a
situation which, certainly, has little to do with the East
Timorese people. But yes it has to do with a comment I had
forgotten. Remember my _Belize_ example? Well, one should
be mad to reject the righ to cultural autonomy and respect
of the English-speaking people in Belize within the
framework of a large and inclusive Latin American
federation; at least the English speaking people in Belize
who honestly want to live there, no matter whether Belize
belongs to the British Commonwealth or not.

But know what? While practically every Latin American
country gave support to Argentina, Belize not only
denied it, British frigates were sent from Belmopan to the
South Atlantic!

Why should we not expect Dili to become a Belmopan of
Southeast Asia under leaders such as Ramos Horta?

Nestor.
