Just tell me what Lenin and Trotsky did when they quoted Marx and Engels
that ordinary mortal comrades can't try to emulate?

No wonder you think the regime Stalin created was the wonder of the world
and that its collapse meant the collapse of socialism. The all-seeing
all-knowing general staff in the eagle's lair, and us poor lumps of
machine-gun meat huddling blind and witless in the trenches.
