Louis: I have a much better idea. I would like to have a extended
cyberseminar on Marxism and the colonial revolution. This would involve
in-depth readings of Lenin, Mao, Trotsky, Stalin, Mariatequi, Fonseca,
Guevara, and others. It would address all of the questions that keep
coming up time and again on the list but which we are inhibited from
discussing in depth because of the dogmatism of some members. I would love
to discuss Peru in the kind of depth it deserves without hearing
continuous "Stalinist betrayal" bullshit.
As far as the Moscow trials, etc., I think the only people who have an
appetite for this besides Jim are the Trotskyites. I don't. I would enjoy
having a debate around this as much as hemorrhoid surgery.
Anyhow, my general method is to defend my own ideas and not refute other
people's. This list would be much better off if people would simply defend
what they believed in rather than trying to poke holes in other people's
beliefs.
