I just returned from a retreat in upstate NY with members of the Marxist
school where a lot of interesting topics were discussed. I may report on
them at some point.
I am also about half-way done with James O'Connor's "Origins of Socialism
in Cuba" and hope to report on it later in the week.
Finally, as always, I am deeply indebted to Vladimir's serious engagement
with my Trotsky article. His presence and Zeynep's adds *so much* value to
the list.
When I reply to him, it will after I have the chance to closely examine
what Lenin meant when he used the term "vanguard" and how it is used in
the "Marxist-Leninist" movement today. I need to take a second look at
"One Step Forward" and a few other things. I have a feeling that no other
word in the Marxist lexicon has been warped to such a terrible degree by
dogmatic practitioners. Details to follow.
