Broad left American pragmatism

Important stuff at a high level of discourse, right?

Yeah, and 'we' all know what *that* is without discussing it or being
active in any party, don't 'we'. I love these ready-made,
beneath-my-dignity-to-discuss-it agendas!
Trouble is, the 'important stuff' of today's broad consensus (say in the
Bolshevik party in Russia in February 1917) can be overturned by a
well-placed polemic about the real character of the agenda needed (say
Lenin's polemic against Menshevik class collaboration and for a proletarian
seizure of power and a revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat in
March/April 1917). Where such a broad consensus is not overturned (eg
Nicaragua 1979-1989) the 'important stuff' is revealed as trivial, because
it doesn't promote victory, and leads to defeat.

Louis 'Luther' ('Here I stand and can do no other') Proyect -- martyr to
the truth and 'important stuff'. We'll get the Pope to canonize you at your
favourite New York stadium.
