Re: cyberwars / cybertruth
Zeynep, getting into serious mysticism, quotes Omar Khayyam, "the
fascinating 11th century Persian poet & mathematician":
>If we can't learn the truth, if everything we do is in vain
>Is a life of suspicion any superior?
>Don't put the drink down if you have any trace of a brain
>In this darkness, what if you are drunk and what if you are sober
As with Rabelais, booze is used as a symbol for divine inspiration and
communication. They used wine and even more mystical distilled
quintessences, the modern mystic uses beer: 'Beer is the fuel of the
revolution'. Besides keeping brewers and pubs in business so they can
bolster Tory party funds, it also gives Joe Sixpack an aura of cosmic
purpose he can't quite shake off, however much he might want to.
As for Jane Specialoffer, I'm not aware of anyone making shopping into a
direct link with the Godhead. Perhaps more learned subscribers can help?
Cheers,
Hugh
