Without going on at length I would say that the
issue of Stalinism is the issue of certain elements of
Maoism in China. Relevance is to economic policy, political
policy (Tienanmen Square crackdown), policies towards ethnic
minorities, and policies towards the support of North Korea.
The "49% Stalinist" was originally a joke, but indeed it
would seem that the regime is poised in a zone of uncertainty.
