How do we know how many were killed by STALIN? OR by Fidel Castro ?

GREETINGS FROM WEI EN LIN

Can anyone answer this for me: How many people (according to any or
all estimates available) is Castro alledged to have put to death?

When interviewed in the US last year, Castro said his success was due in
no small measure to the fact that the Cuban communists had not committed
atrocities, as the Russian communists indeed had, on a large scale.

How much truth is there in this; and how can it be objectively evaluated?
Please provide facts, sources, etc.
