Only in the sense that the corporation is the embryonic form of the
socialist enterprise. Like I said in the earlier post, it was created and
subsidized by the U.S. Department of Defense and the National Science
Foundation, and has now been privatized. It's easy to see, at least in the
U.S., the present Internet merging with the cable TV and telephone
industries.
By the way, I hear that UCal-Berkeley is thinking of contracting out its
Internet connections to Netcom.
