Thank you for your reply. It was very helpful. If you could e mail me
some stuff I would be extremely grateful.

I was very struck by the relevance of what we are talking about to Comrade
Vladimir's remarks about the deindustrialisation of Russia. In that
context the discourse of environmentalism is indeed very useful for the
capitalists.

I have also thought about another discourse- "Fourth worldism" and how it
has been mobilised against the Left. Here surely the classic case is that of
the Sandinistas vs the Miskitu. It was extremely ironic to see the
Americans who have slaughtered millions of indigenous peoples worriying
about the "rights" of the Miskitu.

Was it Lenin who said "Left in appearance, but right in essence" to
describe such unprincipled attacks?
