Re: postmarxism and postmodernism
To whom..,
On the idiocy vs. science front:
A recent "Nova" (public TV program) told the story of Anna Anderson,
the woman who claimed to be one of the children of the Czar who had survived
the execution squad. Throughout her life she was embraced by bourgeois
fetishists and ass-kissers who were mad for her story. When she went to
claim (in Germany) some of the rights of her "birth", an excellent German
private detective, tracked down her background and actually (this was near
the turn of the century) got a photo of a Polish factory worker who this
woman actually appeared to be. Well, she was denied and came to America,
married, got old, and developed a flock of bourgeois fetishist ass-kissers
here as well. Then somebody gets the idea to do DNA profiles on her and
compare them to the living royal relations in Europe as well as the polish
family of the factory girl who went missing. The results were predictable,
as was the reaction of the fetishists who had lost their fairy princess -
they refused to believe that a factory girl had fooled European royalty (as
well as themselves).
At the very end, one guy who had practically dedicated his life to
the story says, to justify his CONTINUING disbelief of the overwhelming
scientific evidence "the problem with science is that is denies the validity
of personal experience." That was a zenith for elitist ignorance, I
thought.
Catch that episode of "Nova" if you can. It is a hoot!
