I would put it to you that the consumer is a citizen, and that the
boycott is the exercise of democracy in consumption. Boycotts are very
necessary to put the most intense pressure on a single capitalist with
the minimum wage loss for workers.
That being said, I heartily agree that solidarity strikes are
important, and that a labor party should be the one to call for them
(particularly in the U.S., where solidarity strikes are essentially
illegal, and no union can organize them itself). In fact, political
trust and unified purpose demands that the proletariat defends one
another as both worker and consumer.

p.s. - You have to remember how backwards we are here. Even boycotts are
radical ideas.
