Re: Labor Party

To whom....,

CINCINNATI AFL-CIO LABOR COUNCIL ASK ALL UNIONS IN THE CINCINNATI
AREA TO BOYCOTT PEPSI PRODUCTS!

Teamsters Local 1199 attempted to reach agreement with Pepsi Cola for
two and a half months after the expiration of the contract. In the new
contract, the company demanded subcontracting, use of seasonal and
temporary workers, creation of a second tier of low paid workers;
loss of seniority bidding rights, bonuses instead of wage increases
and many other takebacks. Pepsi has refused to move on its proposals,
and most recently has stopped trying to negotiate at all. Pepsi met
with the union only once in April, and refused to make any concessions
or changes to the proposal. The sales division of the union, which
consists of 170 drivers, mechanics, vending repair and merchandisers,
went on strike on Friday, May 10. Their picket lines are being honored
by 70 production workers who were also working without a contract.

ACTION REQUEST:

1. Teamsters Local 1199 ask that you DO NOT BUY PEPSI or Pepsi
products for the duration of the strike. This includes Pepsi, diet Pepsi,
Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Lipton Ice Teas and Ocean Spray drinks.

2. Our union brothers and sisters also ask that you call or fax Jim
Flood, General Manager, Pepsi Cola Cincinnati. Ask him to negotiate
in good faith with the union. He can be reached at 948-5100 (phone) or
948-5155 (fax).

For further information, contact Steve Saunders, President, Teamster
Local 1199
at 621-7886.
