This is a heavily discounted 2 cents, but, I would like to see unions
who are in negotiation stop talking about "fair" wages. Instead start
talking about the fact that you do the work, and the BOSSES raise rates and
ticket prices. Stop talking about "fairness" all together. If you know that
there will never be fairness until the bosses are out, and the people that do
the work control the industry, start making the case. Become indignant in
your rhetoric. Ask people why there should be profits at all. Tell the
people that you are willing to do the work at whatever price the riders think
is fair, so who needs fatcats and suits?
I believe that is unions would stop focussing on the "fairness" of
managements (which there ain't) and started talking about the uselessness
of managements (a quality they've got, in spades (redoubled)) other
workers might get a little more inspiration out of union struggles.
