Conference Announcement "Revolution Betrayed - 60 years on"
International Scientific Conference -
"Revolution Betrayed", 60 years on
This conference will be organised by
the International Committee for the
Study of L. Trotsky's legacy, to mark
the 60th anniversary of the publication
of "Revolution Betrayed" by Leon
Trotsky.
It is proposed to discuss the following
issues :
1. The publication of, and fate
of, the book "Revolution Betrayed", and
its significance for the development of
Marxist thought.
2. The problem of the nature of
the USSR, its development and its
demise, raised in "Revolution Betrayed".
3. Present day problems of the
development of socialist theory and
practice in the revolutionary and
reformist wings of the workers'
movement, and the development of post -
totalitarian society.
4. Problems of the research of L.
Trotsky's biography and ways to
overcome the dogma of the "Stalin
School of Falsification".
There will also be the opportunity to
consider other themes related to
"Revolution Betrayed".
Those who wish to participate in the
conference should send an application
and a synopsis of their proposed
contribution (up to 5 pages of standard
typed text) to :
