The question is to what extent the *workers* were making the
decisions in Soviet military and foreign policy. If the decisions of an
oppressing class have some collateral benefit to the proletariat, which
benefit the proletariat may or may not have hoped for, they still cannot be
judged as decisions of the proletariat.
Furthermore, it is my feeling that a proletariat whose consciousness
was not dominated by the reality of oppression would view war against
civilians differently than a proletariat who displaces its righteous anger
into violent fantasy and jingoism.
That being said, a gun in the hand.......
