        Resources are allocated consciously right now.  People decide
whether or not they need them and whether or not they want to pay the
asking price.  If you are saying we will get smarter, you are right on.
If you are saying that some central "consciousness" should allocate
resources, forget it.  Now, a *collective* "consciousness" is fine.  If we
find better ways to value capitals with the most possible inputs, I'm all
for it.  The key word and question is "we".  Should the workers in a firm
be able to make their own capital allocations?  I say they must, and with
the greatest possible amount of information in the form of comparable
decisions by other groups of workers, as well as research data and
political input.  The political input has to be on the cost side, however.
Ultimately, business and charity will be indistinguishable, but not soon.



        I think socialists always underestimate the extent to which the
worker is *limited* under capitalism, as well as exploited.  The worker
has no capacity to go out and make himself useful of his own accord, and
for his own benefit.  Capitalist greed and worker ambition are not at all
the same thing.  If I sometimes sound like a capitalist or a
neo-libertarian, it is because I am always forced to emphasize that one of
capitalism's faults is *separating* the worker from productive commerce
for the market of his peers.



        The neo-libertarian capitalists are LYING when they portray the
capitalist market as the institution where a worker can make his fortune.
Capitalists are parasites on the market, and on the economy.
