This was forwarded to me by a friend and I thought I should post it since
it is not actually written to me.

Dear Mr Hanly, as a new Zealand citizen who was raised in a staunch Labor
Party family with a father who saw in Robert Muldoon the seed to the
decline of our progressive, nurturing, benign egalitarian social
experiment, I read your posting with a great deal of personal pain. I
have been living in the United States for ten years now and I have had
ample opportunity to see the effects of these 'economic improvements' on
this society. To think that my own country could sucuumb to the lure of
this kind of society is almost inconceivable and yet from the evidence
supplied to me long distance, it appears to be happening. I cannot begin
to detail how ill-advised these chAnges are. I have seen nothing, nothing
in the ten years I have been here to see that the quality of life and the
happiness and sense of health and well being of this nation is served by
foreign ownership, corporate control, health as business, law as profit
and money as ideology. Heaven help Aotearoa and if not maybe proportional
representation will. S.P.
