KEN CAMPBELL'S ROLE IN EXPOSING QUISPE'S DOUBLE DEALING DOES NO HARM BUT GOOD TO THE CAUSE OF THE REVOLUTION IN PERU.

>From Adolfo Olaechea:
Hello Ken:
Gina is certainly one to allocate blame! Last time she was arguing that
"Maoists do not allocate blame" while Quispe was slandering and blackening
the names of real, respected and consistent supporters of the People's War
in Peru using the most despicable and unsubstantiated lies behind his mask
of anonimity.
Now the same man goes to the list Peru - just like going directly to the
press in Lima - and turns the facts upside down alleging to have won a
debate, that Rolf Martens is a CIA agent, and at the same time claims to
have been "arrested". The typical Avakian style maneuvre to escape from a
tight corner.
We had plenty of REAL CHARGES AGAINST QUISPE, and could have released at any
time, but that is not our method and besides our American comrades wanted to
try saving this "patient". In any case, we prefer that these kind of people
expose themselves first. Now, that everything is clear for ANY RIGHT
THINKING PERSON, we use it to WARN people, not to defend ourselves, since we
have no need of such weapons. For our own defence and that of the
revolution, we have incomparbly more powerful weapons. We have
Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Unlike Quispe's absurd allegations and reactionary lies, this are true and
fully substantiated facts:
"Quispe" and "Ccorimanya" are but the same person. Moreover, Quispe is a
phoney name - the real individual, and I will not give his name as yet until
the real MPP takes this issue on board and decides it is worth publishing
his "radiography" in El Diario Internacional - but what I can say about this
fellow is the following - as recently as 1985, Quispe was the electoral
agent in New York of the United Left (revisionist Alfonso Barrantes
presidential candidacy), and that is a REAL FACT.
By itself, this background would not have disqualified him at all from doing
sincere work for the People's War, since people can - and many do - undergo
a change of heart, join the revolution and embrace an ideology at different
stages of its development. As to his double identity and anonimity, well not
everyone can afford, or is prepared, to risk their families back in Peru,
and we got to understand even this no matter how weird it may look, since to
work modestly for the cause it is not necessary to be in the public eye, as
is also the situation of many comrades in our Committee too.
We believe that people can forge themselves anew if they are able to
transform themselves by criticism and self-criticism. We believe in helping
the sick to health by curing the sickness. This was unfortunately not
possible in Quispe's case and he has proven to be incorrigible and
impervious to this method, not in the last two weeks, but over nearly three
years.
Moreover, now that his double role has been demonstrated, and it has become
evident that his only intention was to carry on - as he had being doing -
with a campaign of subversion against the true defenders of the Peoples War,
there is no harm in letting everyone know this fact and that they draw there
own conclussions in the light of the recent developments.
Quispe's true agenda had not changed: to take the lead in fighting against
the "Shining Path" which is the program of the Peruvian revisionists he
worked for openly until at least 1985 - and, obviously, just as his
anti-Avakian stance was proven phoney, his ideological change of heart - now
matter how well disguised - was not sincere either.
Therefore, "Quispe" could not have been arrested by the cops since
"Ccorimanya" was posting last night and "Quispe" was also posting to the
Peru list. So, he is lying again and trying to pull the wool over peoples
eyes to make himself into a "martyr" (Avakian style). That is why he has
reason to hide his true persona from the REVOLUTIONARIES and the democratic
masses.
People like these are not Maoists at all! Have nothing to do with Maoism
but are a caricature of it. Maoist in name but Avakianists in deeds.
The case of "Malinovski" is really turned out to be the case of "Quispe"
too, with the exception that the real Malinovski was at least a proper
journalist and not a vulgar scribbler.
You are perfectly right in what you say about the trust of the people and
that such "Maoists" cannot but alienate the people from the cause they
pretend to support, sow distrust and create splits. It is inevitable that a
real people's revolution would attract such classical cases of "double
agents" and infiltrators who win a bit of political capital by doing "heavy
duty work".
The ideological legacy of Avakian still looms strong in America, even in its
death rattle. But that too is bound to change with the developments taking
place elsewhere, where two or three disguised trouble-makers, are nothing to
worry about too much.
I respect - above any ideological barrier - people of true conviction,
decency and dedication to the cause of combating the class enemy, which
today appears quite often waving the reddest of red flags in order to to
oppose the red flag.
For us, as we said from the beginning, the question is not to pile up
numbers of "supporters" or "cheeleaders" - in fact we believe in fewer but
better troops.
Therefore, two or three real Maoists in America will do. I am sure, that
once a clear line of distinction is traced with the phoneis, many more will
in fact appear.
Chairman Gonzalo says: "How many we are is not the fundamental question.
The important question is if we want to carry it out or not. Yesterday, in
1848, Marx and Engels were but two people, today, 143 years later, we are
millions throughout the world. Yesterday we had nothing. Today we have two
great historical experiences rich in lessons, experiences which are present,
which are alive in us, in the proletarian and in the peoples". And, of
course, matching words with deeds, without which no matter how many
"Maoists" you may have at hand.!
It is my opinion that the American Maoist movement must trace a clear line
of demarcation with its past failures, draw the proper conclussions from
incidents like this, and clean its house mercilessly from double dealers, -
FEWER BUT BETTER TROOPS - draw close to people on the basis of their
sincerity and not on the face value of their claims or cultivated
RRRevolutionist image, otherwise it would continue to lag behind and fall
prey to swindlers and straw heroes.
But, however that complicated task develops, the cause of the People's War
in Peru will not therefore be less better defended, because if some do not
accomplish the tasks they are suppossed to do and swear to do with every
phrase that comes out of their mouths, there will be others, better ones,
who will take their place, because that is the sense of history, and the
revolution in Peru, like all true people's revolutions is a GREAT HISTORICAL
EVENT.
No amount of Avakian style scheming can de-rail it, provided all of us,
sincere revolutionary people, do their duty for the fundamental values of
the Movement, as you, in this list, did with honour and in a practical
manner. In my opinion, this was an act in which you were perfectly
justified, even if at this stage you did not altogether view our cause as
quite as much your cause or proclaim it so loudly and in such a direct
fashion as a couple of "blowhards" in this list do.
In practice, you certainly have shown to have more internationalism in your
little finger than they do in all their bones!.
