Re: Capitalist collectivization. (fwd)

Ms Ryan,

My mother's family comes from a small farming community in southern
Ontario where they have done dairy/mixed farming for 5 generations. They
have essentially sold out for real estate value, although one cousin still
raises a dairy herd. I know that the Canadian subsidy system was unable to
target family farmers effectively over agri-business interests.

Small farmers are essentially always over-capitalized, within a
capitalist system. My family's experience as well as the experience of the
third world peasants bear this out. Even private grain farmers have become
combine drivers and amateur accountants for banks. The truth of agriculture
is agri-business. There is no arguable economic reason not to organize
agriculture around professional agriculturalists working on publicly held
land assets. It makes economic sense. The way to make it most painless is
to succumb to the reality and then subject it to revolution.
