Ron Brown Second Only to Christ as a Moral American

For five hours on Wednesday, C-SPAN carried the mawkish obscenity that was
the final farewell to Ron Brown, the Commerce Secretary who unexpectedly
dropped in on the Croatians on April 3rd.

Is our government in such an advanced stage of decay that it must initiate
and promote this kind of circus?  A man who was about to be indicted for
bribery and extortion, someone who had as much to do with improving the lot
of American workers as karaoke and Donny Osmond, a betrayer of the poor,
feted with all the pompous hypocrisy and fake tributes officaldom could
muster?

They are truly mafia-like; killing off rival hoodlums one day, holding huge
funerals with flowers and automobiles the next.

Lou Reed's friend said it best: "Stick a fork in their ass and turn them
over: they're done."
