There is a huge body of work available and on-going regarding the use of
"memes" and such to model cultural evolution. Look in social sci indexes
of journals on CD=rom for cultural selection, cultural evolution, meme,
dual inheritance theory. Also try authors Boyd and Richerson. It's all
an extended analoyg upon darwinian evolution.
