A Simple Question to British Comrades
- Subject: A Simple Question to British Comrades

The question is:
How the President of the British Mineworkers Union is elected?
A simple question I asked and after receiving 11 answers from
British comrades I still have to figure it out. Nobody seems
to know for certain.
(7) Seven people answered: "I do not know"
(4) Guessed an asnwer: "I think he/she got elected..."; "It used
to be appointed (I think), but now is elected, I'm not sure how"
etcetera.
In 1987 I was told that the British Mineworkers Union President was
appointed for life. I was explained that that was a left over from
the times of feudal tradeunionism. I never pay attention to that
comment but now I would like either to confirm that or know exactly
how he got elected.

Please, can some british comrade place a phone call to the British
Mineworkers Union and find out how its President is elected, every
how many years and who elect him? or, if he is not elected, how is
appointed and where the tradition comes from?

Thank You in advance,
Comradely,
Carlos
