PCP Literature

Also, once again I urge PCP supporters to try to find a way to put
communiques, manifestos, etc. from the PCP into their own words and not
simply re-post articles wholesale from New Flag and other sources.

I find the formal documents of the PCP very interesting statements
of their position, but they are not well aimed to communicate with
this l'st. I would include their Manifesto, and their statement on
New Democracy. It would be very relevant for the debate to see
their statement on their rectification campaign to get an understanding
of how they have handled the problem of possible/probable excesses.
Some New Flag material is written well. The article about the
military rescue of some prisoners was tight.
But as I have put to New Flag, it is in their interests not necessarily
to seek endorsement but to consider their aims on this l'st. A class
analysis of this l'st and an analysis of the country of most of
the subscribers would suggest its consciousness would be rather
different from that of Peruvian supporters of the PCP. Only a small minority
will be won to the degree of
commitment and voluntarist fervour that is partly Maoist (Maoite?)
and partly the adrenalin of war.
Basically I think PCP supporters would be well advised to consider
the spirit of Louis Proyect's politely phrased points here. Otherwise
the limited water in which they swim on this list will dry up, however
just their cause. What could attract interest from marxists without
allegiance to any particular wing of marxism, is reporting of wider
issues about the repression of the Fujimori regime, as well as
more factual material about the PCP.
Communists who really want to do propaganda must consider their
audience and bear in mind those who will read their articles and slogans
or listen to their speeches and their talk; otherwise they are in effect
resolving not to be read or listened to by anyone.
This last para also seems to be pretty well what LP was saying, and
since it was in fact written by Mao Zedong, (Oppose Stereotyped
Party Writing 1942), perhaps PCP supporters might find
it could be at least one point of agreement.
