software peculiarity

List is a specialized command on some other software besides the one used
to maintain Marxism, which is majordomo. I have belonged to other lists
in which the software burps when it discovers the word list, such as
listserv and listproc. So I have gotten into the habit of throwing an
asterisk in, even when I don't need it.
