Of course Hillary should be subjected to criticism from the left. My point
was that Cockburn's view was so extreme that he totally lost his sense of
perspective. It simply is NOT a police state move for the goverrment to
protect children who are abused by parents! It is precisely because "social
work" is under such a heavy attack from the right, which opposes any
government aid to children, that it needs a bit of defense from us. Cockburn
instead attacks it in the spirit of Newt and the militias.
Quite frankly I do believe some of his writings in the past have been
supportive of the Militias.
When one's hatred of liberals reaches an extreme where it becomes the main
enemy, one makes the same mistake that Stalin did re: Social Democracy in
1929-1933.
I will never forget Lyndon LaRouche's approach to liberalism during the
period when he was considered a part of the left and where he ended up. I
knew him personally then.
