Re: moderation, list purpose

I have just read Gary's post on moderation and I can put two and two
together that Jerry Levy is still stalking the parapets and hurling calumny
at yours truly. (I wouldn't know about this first-hand because I have
stopped reading his missives.)
All I can say is that I regard Gary as one of the most brilliant and
creative people on this l*st, despite his tenured status (you are
tenured, aren't you, Gary? If you aren't, can I write a letter to your
employer arguing your case?)
But I think everybody's best side comes out when we are talking about
real politics in the real world. Here we are, a group of some 3 to 400
Marxists around the world trying to understand the world. This medium ties
us together in a way that would have both boggled Marx's mind and not
boggled it. In a peculiar sense, doesn't the internet represent to the
left politics of 1995 what the printing-press represented to the left
politics of 1845?
This medium is a real gift. Let's make the best of it.
