The writer has very little knowledge on Peru. It is in the coastal
cities, especially Lima's shantytowns where the sea of people in
poverty live...of course the miserable living conditions os the peasantry
is similar in the countryside.

> The Incan peasants probable are the rich peasants or landlords. In the
countryside, the
revolution led by the PCP is made up mainly by poor peasants (they are
approx. 95% of the peasantry.) If the People's Committees of poor peasants
are being slaughtered by the revolutionaries, how is that they are their
main supporters? (they also form most of the People's Army.)
The PCP acts in both city and countryside, but principally in the
countryside.

> That's pure slander. What happens is that the army (and part of its
allied `united left') organizes and arms paramilitary peasants
to use them as a buffer in combating the People's War. The same tactic
used in Vietnam and Guatemala. To confront massess against masses.

> His methods were not pretty, but they worked. Shining Path and the

> That was their dream, but it did not work. The masses make history, the
Parties lead. In any revolution there are casualties, but to say
"virtually decapited" is just a dream. The PCP restructured its
leadership, the Central Committee was expanded, new battle fronts were
opened, and since 1993 approx. 10,000 military and political actions
were carried, most of them combats against the reactionary army.
That's the reason that 65% of the country is under state of emergency
and permanent curfews, there spectaculars guerrila actions e.g. take over
of army garissons in Huallaga Valley, attack on Casino Maria Angola in
Lima, take of dozens of towns, and smashing of at least 25 police stations.
[See The New Flag, detailed account and source] Then, where is the
defeated sendero?

OF THE ARMY AND OF HIS MASTER U.S. IMPERIALISM.

> THE BERENSON CASE HELPED TO ILLUSTRATE THE JUSTICE OF 'HOODED JUDGES'
IN PERU. WHAT WAS THE EVIDENCE AGAINST HER? THEY HAVE NONE. SHE WAS
NOT INVOLVED IN ARMED STRUGGLE. THE FACELESS JUDGES USED HER
HARANGUE AS EVIDENCE TO CONVICT HER.

IT IT IS LIKELY THAT THE BERENSON FILE WAS GIVEN TO THE PERUVIAN
SIN (ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS TO FOLLOW HER - IT APPEARS THAT THE ONLY
INDICATION THEY HAD WAS 'GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION' BY RENTING A HOUSE
THAT WAS USED LATER ON BY THE MRTA- BUT WITH A LITTLE INTERNATIONAL
PRESSURE FROM ACTIVISTS IN THE US, SHE WILL BE EXPELLED FROM PERU
(LIKE IT WAS AN ITALIAN WOMAN RECENTLY) -BERENSON MAY HAVE TO BRIBE
THE CORRUPT JUDGES AND THE MILITARY. SHE POSES NO THREAT TO THE
REGIME. THE PCP DOES.

THAT MRTA (WHICH IS ALMOST EXTINGUISHED) DOES KIDNAP BUSINESSMAN

THE PEOPLE MUST SUPPORT THE REVOLUTION.

CARRIED OUT TERRORISM AGAINST AMERICANS "UNLESS THESE WERE AMERIKKKANS"
I MEAN INVOLVED IN THE LOW INTENSITY WARFARE AGAINST THE PEOPLE.
