There is a pretty good article in the (usually so-so) International Viewpoint
magazine (Jan. 1996, issue 273), written by Alexander Buzgalin and Andrei
Kolganov, on the Russian elections. Basically, it describes Russia today
as divided between various restorationist "clans-corporations", with the
Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) grouping those still
tied to the "paternalist-minded bureaucracy" which have not yet adapted
themselves to the market. In any case, it's an intriguing analysis of
the situation that I've not seen elsewhere.
