This message was forwarded to me by Rick Wolff. I have read the paper by
Warren Montag already and it was very interesting (and would interest those
on the list interested in the force/consent couplet in Gramsci (Bryan, is
this you?):
>Another AESA/RM project has come to fruition!

>POSTMODERN MATERIALISM AND THE FUTURE OF MARXIST THEORY: ESSAYS IN THE
>ALTHUSSERIAN TRADITION, edited by Antonio Callari and David Ruccio, has
>just been published by Wesleyan University Press/University Press of New
>England.
>
>This is a project we started on the RM Editorial Board some years ago to
>honor Althusser after his death in 1990. We invited all AESA members and
>lots of folks from around the world to contribute essays that took up
>Althusser's theoretical and political legacy in order to chart some of the
>future directions of Marxist theory. The task became one of elaborating
>what we refer to, somewhat provocatively, as a "Postmodern Materialism."
>
>The book contains essays by AESA members Stephen Cullenberg, Richard Wolff,
>Stephen Resnick, Bruce Roberts, Julie Graham, Katherine Gibson, Richard
>McIntyre, and Jonathan Diskin--plus an introduction by the two editors.
>There are also essays by such noted Althusserians (and friends of AESA) as
>Antonio Negri, Grahame Lock, Warren Montag, Etienne Balibar, Emmanuel
>Terray, AnnMarie Wolpe, Alain Lipietz, and Gregory Elliott. Quite a cast of
>characters!
>
>The book is currently available from University Press of New England, 23
>South Main St., Hanover, NH 03744. Orders: 1/800/421-1561. $49.50 cloth,
>$19.95 paper.

>Please feel free to circulate this message to other lists. And, if anyone
>is so inclined, it's always possible to write a review for one of the
>journals out there. . .

>Best regards,

>Antonio and David
>(2 brothers--not!)
