"Left Wing" McCarthyism

Note: all assertion and no evidence. This is the
left wing equivalent of McCarthyism, with all of
the McCarthyite techniques down pat -- smear charge,
guilt by association, etc.

I have no desire to enter into the disputes around
the CPUSA, and I would agree that some of the back
and forth is really little more than CP baiting. I
will say, however, that support for the "Shining Path"
and apologetics for Kim Il Sung, Stalin, etc. are
positions which, if someone wants to take them, can
only lead to challenge by folks who believe that
there is no future for a radical movement which does
not clearly and unequivocally separate itself from
mass murder and state authoritarianism. And if the only
defense to such challenges is this type of McCarthyism,
then IMO the bankruptcy of it is confirmed.
