Shining Path, Dmitrov and fascism

I hope that Louis Godena can find the time to post some remarks on
Dmitrov's concept of fighting fascism.

It appears to me that Shining Path has been making the same mistake as
the German CP during the ultraleft "third period". It regards the
modern day Peruvian counterparts of the German Social Democracy in the
late 1920's as "social fascists". Dmitrov went on to disavow this madness
while the Shining Path plows ahead as if nothing has changed.

It is wrong to shoot social democrats and labor officials. This is not
Marxist politics. It is dead-end fanaticism.

I support Louis Godena's concerns for the suffering humanity of Peru: the
spurned, the downtrodden and the exploited. But socialism will not come
to Peru through violent attacks on the "revisionists", "social fascists",
"opportunists" (choose the epithet that excites you the most.)

It will come through skillful exploitation of divisions within Peru's
ruling-class and mobilization of all sectors of the oppressed against
this ruling-class and its international allies.
