Re: market socialism

Mr. Luftmensch,

If one ignores the democratizing ( that's right ) influence of free
markets - both as concept and reality - one misses the point of the last 500
years of history. The entire point of the capitalist revolution was to
supplant economic hegemony BASED on feudal fetish, and bring economic reward
(for the bourgeoisie, of course ) more in line with economic value to the
populace. Socialism must bring this same hegemony to the proletariat.
Markets - be they Soviet lines around the corner, or money price - are the
mechanism by which the citizen exerts his rightful authority - as consumer -
over the productive decisions of his fellow man.
