I largely agree with what Justin said about the appeal of Deleuze/Guattari
types, although I would say with regard to many that arguments may be
eschewed just as much because the writer isn't up to them as because the
prospective readers aren't. I have a question for Justin (or anyone else),
though: if the idea is to make "understanding" cheap and easy, why do so
many of them write such impenetrable prose? Many also love to cite obscure
literary works most of us have never heard of and use
untranslated/untranslatable French and German words (in English editions).
Maybe I'm stupid, but I find it impossible to understand a lot of what is
written -- when I try to figure it out, I find it's either trivial or
wrong.

P.S. David, I read your definition of interpellation. Is there a definition
in English? I remember trying to read a book which made frequent use of
this word, sticking it in in the midst of incomprehensible gibberish. I
persevered for a time, hoping that the author was merely misspelling
"interpolation," but finally realized I was wrong and gave up.
