Re: SWP and Labour

Labour nearly everywhere. Our main election propaganda would be
along the lines of "Kick the Tories out, build the the socialist
alternative, vote Labour" or something similar.

SLP wherever they're standing where the Tories have no chance.

If the SLP are silly enough to stand where the main battle
is between Tory + Labour, probably Labour but we'd have to
judge it concretely.

Scotish Socialist Alliance - don't really know. If it was Tommy
Sheridan standing in a constituency where he had a real base, we'd
probably support him. If it was some CP relic standing with no base
at all, probably Labour.

On what basis do we decide ?
We do whatever is the best means of building the influence of
revolutionary politics. In most cases, this means relating
to people who are desparate to get rid of the Tories and
uneasy about Blair. The way to do this, when there is no SLP
candidate, is to argue for a Labour vote but then go on to
say that we'll need to fight against Blair as hard as we have
against the Tories.
When there is an SLP candidate, the argument about the need to
fight against Blair when he gets in can be put by arguing for
an SLP vote.

The reason we are against SLP candidates standing in
constituencies where the main battle is between Tory and
Labour is that this actually puts a barrier between
socialists and their audience. If it comes to an either/or
choice between kicking the Tories out and expressing their
worries over Blair, workers will, RIGHTLY, vote against
the Tories, the bosses party, and for the main workers party,
Labour.
