OPE-L appreciation

I appreciated very much both the content and the fact of Jerry's
statement, which I think does clear the air, whatever the short term
reaction.

Indeed I think this illustrates, alongside Jerry's explanation, why
making a statement was a bit more complicated than it appeared to me.

So I would like to take the opportunity to regret for my part whatever
came over as unconstructive in my post of 6th January, and perhaps more
especially in subsequent posts, and to thank those, (perhaps I could 
particularly
mention Lisa) who helped us understand our different positions better.

I would defend what Jerry says about the archives of this closed list.
He may be the "owner" but he is constrained by his responsibility I would
imagine to the other subscribers. Publically known
writers may be preparing papers for release at an appropriate time, and
have the right to be able to join a select list of people who they trust
with their preparatory work. If that is their decision that is their decision.

I think BTW it is not possible to access the archives of the marxism list
unless you have subscribed, and been accepted, even though acceptance is
essentially automatic for our sort of list.

IMO it is clear that the sort of initiative Jerry has explained could
indirectly be very valuable to the marxism list, but no doubt time will
tell. It will take time.

Meanwhile there is nothing to stop any subscriber to this marxism list
from discussing and studying any issue of political economy to the limits
of their interest, and to share it with others.It is clear that Jerry
and others are willing to comment and join in the debate, as time
permits.

Let's see how things go forward. It sounds good to me.
