Net.censorship against neo-Nazis (Simon Wiesenthal rides again)

We've touched upon this subject before. I still hope to hear from Charlotte
how her party is going to "ban" the KKK -- which she claimed was part of the
Communist Party platform.

Louis mentioned the activities of the Simon Weisenthal Centre. Here we see
them in action, trying to put heavy pressure on Internet Service Providers
to establish a new tradition of censorship on the net. The application of
economic pressure on the little, isolated ISP may not matter if the recent
CompuServe censorship is any indication...

When will these fucking morons stop making Nazis martyrs on the altar of
free speech?!

Ken.

P.S. What most concerns me is this snippet from the below press release by
Zundel about the west coast Holocaust documentation site of my bud Ken
McVay. Sol Littman and the Simon Wiesenthal Centre are completely abandoning
the speech-against-speech tactic, it would seem, that McVay has championed
to such astounding success on the net. Zundel writes:

" The Nizkor site is the brain child of one Ken
McVey, a British Columbia area, Canada resident. McVey, once highly touted
by Jewish community spokespersons as a grassroots patriot who "did the
right thing" to "refute the lies and distortions" of "Holocaust Deniers,"
was recently partly intellectually disowned by Sol Litman, head of the
Canadian Simon Wiesenthal Centre, in a draft prepared for presentation at a
press conference in Ottawa in 1995"

A Zundelsite Press Release:

Internet censorship due to announced Holocaust debate!

Is Internet censorship preferable to an open, scholarly debate between
those who promote the traditional version of the "Holocaust" and those who
are erroneously labeled "Holocaust deniers" by censorship organizations
such as the Simon Wiesenthal Center?

Within days if not hours of a Zundelsite (Web site) announcement that a
global electronic debate on the "Holocaust" was about to begin, hundreds of
letters were sent to Internet access providers and 2,000 letters were
planned to be sent to include university presidents across the United
States asking them to refuse to carry messages or allow a debate on their
campuses that would ". . . promote racism, anti-Semitism, mayhem and
violence." (New York Times, Jan. 10, 1996, Page 1)
In other words - the Wiesenthal people want broad-brush censorship across
the ". . . free-est country in the world!"
The announced debate was to take place between the Zundelsite, considered
the premier web site refuting certain traditional "Holocaust" claims, and
the Nizkor site, reportedly assisted by hundreds of volunteers dedicated to
the refutation of "Holocaust denial" claims.
After much negotiation as to the format and logistics of how such a debate
was to take place, the Zundelsite, a web site posting Holocaust revisionist
documents, received a message from Nizkor, challenging them to quit
stalling and to open the debate at the beginning of the New Year and, in a
gesture of good-will, do a direct document-to-document link.
This was agreed to by the Zundelsite on Sunday, January 7th and announced
on their English language News page.
On Monday, January 8th, in preparation for this debate, four of the most
important and comprehensive, debate-related documents were put up for
Internet readers to access via FTP. They were 1) a booklet titled "Did Six
Million Really Die?" which served as the basis for criminal charges against
its publisher, Ernst Zündel, which in turn led to two historical Zündel
trials in 1985 and 1988, 2) a transcript summary of 12,700 pages of vital
testimony by the prosecution and the defense of the second, 1988, Zündel
Trial, 3) the Second Leuchter Report, an examination of the alleged "gas
chambers" of Dachau, Mauthausen and Hartheim - a document contested by the
traditional Holocaust Promotion Lobby, and 4) an hitherto
government-suppressed, 1982 Postal Review Summary in response to a Samisdat
(Ernst Zundel's mail order and publishing business) mailing privilege
revocation attempt that contained, among other things, advice to the
government of Canada to keep its nose out of the Holocaust dispute because
". . . the (government-appointed) Postal Review Board believes that what is
before it is a much larger problem or struggle between two peoples, i.e.
the Germans and the Jews . . ."
On Tuesday, January 9, according to the Page One article in the New York
Times of January 10, hundreds if not thousands of letters from the Simon
Wiesenthal Center were sent to Internet providers in an apparent attempt to
enroll the providers in the censorship of individuals and groups the Simon
Wiesenthal Center does not like. Additionally, reported e-mail sabotage
has reached the Zundelsite from various individuals and at least four other
web sites philosophically aligned with a citizen's right to debate all
matters worth debating - including issues pertaining to the "Holocaust."
The Zundelsite is named after its founder, Ernst Zündel, a German-Canadian
Human Rights activist. The Nizkor site is the brain child of one Ken
McVey, a British Columbia area, Canada resident. McVey, once highly touted
by Jewish community spokespersons as a grassroots patriot who "did the
right thing" to "refute the lies and distortions" of "Holocaust Deniers,"
was recently partly intellectually disowned by Sol Litman, head of the
Canadian Simon Wiesenthal Centre, in a draft prepared for presentation at a
press conference in Ottawa in 1995 as ". . . a west coast convenience store
clerk who has taken it upon himself to post his own truth literature next
to the hate propaganda of white power advocates and Holocaust deniers."
In a nutshell: No matter what - the "Holocaust" WON'T be debated, if
censors at the Simon Wiesenthal Center have their way, not even by
well-meaning individuals who do this on their own free time and on behalf
of the Holocaust Promotion Lobby cause!
Control of the debate is the aim. Control through censorship will be the
result.
