Who are you thinking of, Leo? Didn't Althusser oppose the student rebellion?
As for your suggestion that one of Althusser's influences has been to
encourage a greater reading of Marx, I'm not so sure. Most Althusserians,
IMO, spend more time reading Althusser's interpretation of Marx than Marx's
writings themselves.
