Holy Jesus!  Are these real figures?!  I must say this pushes my attitude
toward labor bureaucrats away from contempt in the direction of bitter
hatred!

Comrades around the RCP were always dismissive of the idea that
unions were "workers' organizations" -- a position which I approached
with a bit of skepticism ("Are they really that bad?" I asked myself.  Had
a roommate who worked on the labor council in Cleveland, he seemed
like a pretty decent guy...).  But half-a-mil?  Does he also wear a button
that says, "Kiss me, I'm La Cosa Nostra?"  What a scumbag!
