Louis, really. This is only half the truth, isn't it ?
The other side to it is that on the one hand the bourgeoisie, because
of its essential nature, can never fully understand the society it
dominates. Also, the working class is a collective class and is always
rediscovering / reinventing its traditions. Besides, those traditions
may have been defeated but they were never extinguished.
The US ruling class thought it had eliminated Marxism in the 50's.
By the 60's, it was doing its best to eliminate the Black Panther
Party, which described itself as "Marxist Leninist" because
it was terrified of what they represented and the extent of their
support.
