I think that Doug Henwood jokingly pointed out why this cannot be so.
The four inch spiked heel is not a valuable item. It seems to satisfy no
reasonable purpose, as it can only be worn for a short time (which is its
apparent purpose, except on the feet of certain specialists). It does
however, facilitate, ...ehem.. exchange of value, and thus finds its rightful
place in the economic "value" picture.
Although the relationship between the spike heel and the F-14 Tomcat
is not obvious, it is real. Both promote exchenge and thus transcend their
lack of earthly usefulness.
