Re: Marx and Judaism

Is a glass half full or half empty ?
Religion always faces two ways - it's just difficult to see it sometimes
if you have a personnal relationship to a particular one to see the other
side.
My personnal reaction to some orthodox Jews asking for state money to set
up a religious school a few years ago was very different to my reaction
to the same demand from orthodox muslims ( I instintively rejected the former
"what ? let those reactionary bastards near children !?" and reluctantly
acquiesced in the later ).
It is neccessary to look at such questions not from a personnal point of view
but from a view of the class struggle as a whole. Judaism like any other
religion faces both ways. The first act of the Warsaw ghetto uprising was to
shoot a jewish policeman. However, some ( or was it one ) of the zionist youth
groups were part of the uprising. Doubtless they all used religion to justify
their actions.
