Who's the Sectarian?
Lately the foul stench of sectarianism has been emanating from this list.
No, it's not from the proliferation of pro-Stalin readers; it's not from the
re-emergence of Pat from MIM, either; and its not from the posting of "Piranha
Politics versus Centrist Politics."
No, the air of sectarianism is emanating from many of the "non-sectarian,
anti-Leninist" ex-leftists hanging out on this list. You know who you are.
Those of you who observe the inadequacies of life from the inside of your CPUs.
The worst sectarians are those of you who go on and on about how "sectarian"
people who have political principles are. If anyone gives Marxism a bad name
its those of you who, in the name of "non-sectarian" politics, act in the worst
sectarian manner toward anyone who disagrees with you. Cynical, personalistic
attacks (aka "Flames") and vile anti-working class language are your hallmarks.
And what's worse, most of these "non-sectarians" spend their time praising the
merits of their middle-class, university life. Talk about being "out of touch
with the working class!"
I value having *political* discussions with other Marxists on this list. Scott
Marshall, who I have severe political disagreements with, is someone I can
discuss with. Pat from MIM, same thing. CKates, ditto. This despite my
differences.
Why? Because they raise *political* issues, and don't pepper them with cynical
personalism borne in a bygone day when some other left group stepped on their
toes.
Enough for now. I'm sure all you "non-sectarian" sectarians have some choice
gutter words for the likes of me. I may as well let you get it out of your
system.
In the interim, I have an anti-racist organization to help build.
