LTGRPD  - this might be the proper abbreviation for the *Law of the tendency
for the general rate of profit to decline*.

I would like to recall that there is *at least* one other problem: not only
the tendency of the general rate of profit to decline, but also the tendency
of the absolute mass of the profit to grow.

"And therefore the absolute mass of the profit produced by it, *can*,
consequently, increase, and increase progressively, in spite of the
progressive drop in the rate of profit. And this not only *can* be so. Aside
from temporary fluctuations it *must* be so, on the basis of capitalist
production." [Marx, Capital, vol. III, p. 218 - L+W edition].

I add a description of the implicite problem (quoting from a recent comment
on Capital vol. III. written by some German comrades): Both the decline of
the rate of profit and the increase of the mass of profit have to be viewed
as an integral connection. So it is not *one* law, it is a twofold law.

Verwertungsgrades des gesellschaftlichen Gesamtkapitals die Schlussfolgerung
gezogen, dass die Masse des disponiblen gesellschaftlichen Reichtums

Es kommt darauf an, den Zusammenhang zwischen der Abflachung des
Verwertungsgrades und der Zunahme des vom Gesellschaftskapital angeeigneten
Surplus zu sehen. Von temporaeren, konjunkturellen Schwankungen abgesehen
ergibt sich fuer die kapitalistische Produktionsweise mithin ein
zwieschlaechtiges Gesetz: der Fall der Profitrate und die Zunahme der
Profitmasse muessen als integraler Zusammenhang gesehen werden.

Da die politische Oekonomie und auch viele Kritiker der buergerlichen
Gesellschaftsformation auf die Abflachung des Verwertungsgrades fixiert
bleiben, entgeht ihnen das Entscheidende: Die Dechiffrierung der
Bewegungsform des zwieschlaechtigen Gesetzes der kapitalistischen
Akkumulation liefert die Grundlage fuer die das Verstehen von Wachstums- und
Prosperitaetskonstellationen des Gesamtkapitals, die mehrere
Konjunkturzyklen uebergreifen, sowie fuer den Uebergang zu Phasen der
Wachstumsschwaeche oder der strukturellen Ueberakkumulation.

Der Bezug auf das zwieschlaechtige Gesetz erlaubt zudem erst das
Verstaendnis dafuer, dass die Abflachung des Verwertungsgrads sich nur ganz
allmaehlich, d.h. als langfristige Entwicklungstendenz durchsetzt."
